My voice is a melodic alto that can be smooth, polished, and rich or textured and earthy with some vocal fry. My accent is Mid-Atlantic, and I have also voiced several projects to run in Canada. My portfolio includes performances that are relatable, conversational, and connected; bold, commanding, and powerful; intense, high energy, and fast paced; funny, charming, and youthful; empathetic, calm, and reassuring; straightforward and medical, with highly complex terminology (I love the tongue twisters); formal, articulate, and professional; and sarcastic, GenX/Millennial, and wry.
“Laura, has anyone ever told you, you sound like Allison Janney?” Yes. EVERY coach I’ve EVER had (and just about everyone else too). As for delivery style, my natural style of speaking is easygoing but dynamic and quite wry at times. (Think Kathryn Hahn).
