Let Laura Help You Advance Your Students' Knowledge & Skills
New discoveries are being made every day and part of the human condition is that we are never done learning! Whether the goal is to increase a learner’s knowledge, teach a new skill, or quickly explain a product or process (see more on Explainer Videos here), conveying the detailed nuts-and-bolts and real-world applications of subjects to the learner in a way that they understand it, internalize it, and retain it, is key. But it’s also just the tip of the iceberg…
In my voice over career and other experiences, I have delivered eLearning, training and instruction that:
- Makes information relatable and easy to understand for learners of all ages,
- Holds a learner’s attention,
- Uses techniques to make even the most complex topics easy to understand, and
- Makes learning even very dry or dense information fun!
One Size Does NOT Fit All: Students include people from 1 year old to 101+ years old. My eLearning narration tones and styles meet students where they are, in their life and in their learning.(OK, 1 year olds aren’t going to take eLearning, but they are learning!)
Attention Spans are Getting Shorter: I love learning new things and my eLearning narration reflects my genuine interest in the subjects I’m talking about. I can also inject humor, as fitting, in the form of a verbal “wink, wink” or a wry inflection that catches the listener off guard, making them think “Whoa, I didn’t see THAT coming!” and bringing their attention back to the material. This engagement captivates your students and holds their attention longer.
Who Says Learning Quantum Physics Has to be Hard?: As a trained systems engineer, I learned to break down even the most complex topics into their component parts to make them easier to understand. I use this same approach in my eLearning narration to deliver information in an organized and well-paced manner that gives the student time to listen, reflect on, and truly internalize even the most complex topics.
As Mary Poppins said, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!: Some material just isn’t particularly exciting, especially if it is something like mandatory compliance training that must be taken every year with very little new information added. Even then, my delivery is dynamic and can include some witty or wry inflection to make the course much more pleasant.
A First Aid Instructor, an Equestrian, & an IT Specialist
Walk into a Recording Booth...
Even before becoming a voice artist, I was teaching and instructing (read more here).
- As an IT, cyber & systems engineer, I trained users on how to use the systems and tools that my team and I built.
- As a volunteer instructor with the American Red Cross, I taught members of my community how to perform CPR, use an Automated External Defibrilator (AED) & provide basic first aid.
- As a volunteer at a therapeutic horseback riding program, I taught teens to care for horses and I taught children and adults, some with physical & intellectual challenges, how to interact with the horses and begin learning to ride.
Through these experiences, I learned how to make learning exciting, easier, and fun for students of all ages and abilities. For me, it’s not just about learning information, it’s about helping people to find passion and purpose, and encouraging and empowering them to pursue both.
“Laura not only provided a professional and engaging narration, but was a delight to work with and delivered the files early. The very few revisions that were required were turned around quickly, and seamlessly matched the original file’s energy and tone. I highly recommend her!”
